Mission Prayers

All of us have many reasons to thank our loving and merciful Father in Heaven for His abundance of blessings. Even with all His blessings, we also often have needs we wish to pray for; perhaps for a loved one who is sick, for a family member, for peace, or some other personal intention.

The Basilian Fathers Missions would like to join you in prayer for your intentions.

Please click on the image of Jesus to the left which will bring up a form to record your special intentions. Mail it to the address shown. Your intentions will be placed by the altar in our chapel and they will be remembered in our Masses and in our daily prayers.

Our Father tells us that when two or more come together to pray in His name, He, the Great Missionary, is with us. He hears us, He hears your intentions, He loves you.

Following are a few of the favorite prayers of the Basilian Fathers Missions:

My Novena Rose Prayer

O Little Therese of the Child Jesus, please pick for me a rose from the Heavenly gardens and send it to me as a message of love. O Little Flower of Jesus, ask God today to grant the favors I now place with great confidence in your hands. [Mention your special request.] St. Therese, help me to always believe as you did, in God’s great love for me, so that I might imitate your Little Way each day. Amen.

Prayer to St. Basil

Our holy father Basil, patron of your Congregation which has taken up the task of the Christian education of youth, be always and everywhere the example of our teachers and students and the constant help of your priests who call to you.

Prayer to Our Lady of Guadalupe

Dear Mother of the Americas, guard and guide our missionary priests as they labor for your children of Latin America and the West Indies. Grant your graces to those who, while remaining at home, support this work by their love, their prayers and their sacrifices. Take us as little children by the hand and lead us to the true love and adoration of your Divine Son. We ask in His name. Amen

The Basilian Chaplet for the Dead

Begin with the sign of the cross. Then:

Our Father, Creator of Heaven and earth, you made us to know, love and serve you in this world and to join you in the next. You do not desire the loss of a single soul. You are a God of mercy. Hear our prayers for all those who have passed from this earth.

Our Father...
Hail Mary ...
Glory Be....

After each of the five intentions, pray “Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in Peace. May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.

1. We commend to your mercy the most lonely and abandoned souls who have no one left on this earth to pray for them.

2. We commend to your mercy the souls of all those who have passed from this earth through violence, abortion, war, and poverty.

3. We commend to your mercy the souls of the Basilian Fathers who have labored in your vineyard on earth, and all the souls touched by their pastoral care.

4. We commend to your mercy the souls of all the friends and benefactors of the Basilian Community.

5. We commend to your mercy the souls of our own loved ones, in particular [here mention the name of a specific person if you wish.]

End with: Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of the Americas, pray for us. Amen.
