Dear Friend of the Missions,
To all of you who have recently lost a loved one, I offer my most sincere condolences and I pray that your beloved deceased has already met our loving and merciful Father in Heaven face to face and is enjoying the promise of life eternal with Him.
Our belief in God can become a powerful anchor during times of loss and grief. We mourn deeply. We mourn for our loved ones, we mourn for ourselves. No word, no wisdom, will wipe away the pain and grief. Compassion, the sense that someone else suffers with us will help us endure. Jesus, the Lord of life and death is all compassion. He has suffered, He has endured, He lived through death, and now lives with us, the Risen One.
With the death of a loved one, we question ourselves and our own lifestyle and values. We re-examine our own priorities and the main thrust of our lives. We realize we do have the time, we must make the time, we must use well the precious gift of time.
Sacred Scripture encourages us to pray for our deceased loved ones: "It is a holy and a wholesome thought to pray for the dead that they may be loosed from their sins"
2 Maccabees 12:46. You are invited to send the names of your beloved dead to be remembered in our Novena of Masses and Special All Souls Day
Mass. Please send us the reply slip below.
Faithfully yours in Christ Jesus,
Rev. John R. Whitley, C.S.B.
Director
